On 1 August, we mark the first anniversary of Nelson's death. Join us to mourn, remember, and demand truth and justice.
📍 1 August 2026, 4:00 PM, Memorial to the Victims of Racism and Police Violence
Fifteen-year-old Nelson died on 1 August 2025 while in custody at Ottweiler Juvenile Prison (JVA Ottweiler). To this day, his family and supporters continue to fight for truth, justice, and a full investigation into the circumstances of his death.
Former cellmates report that shortly before his death, Nelson was verbally abused, mistreated by prison officers, and denied adequate food. Many questions remain unanswered. A child died in state custody, and those responsible have yet to be held accountable.
Nelson's death is not an isolated case. It reflects a system in which racist violence within state institutions continues to cost lives. We remember Nelson. We demand justice.
